Department of IT Engineering

Information technology engineering is defined as a set of tools, processes, and methodologies (such as coding/programming, data communications, data conversion, storage and retrieval, system analysis and, design, Systems control) and associated equipment employed to collect, process, and present information. In broad terms, IT also includes office automation, multimedia, and telecommunication.

The main field of information technology (IT) is, but not limited to, the application of computers, hardware and software to manage information systems. The development, management, and maintenance of IT systems for government and industry applications are the key factors of success in today\'s competitive world. Information Technology is also an essential tool for engineers, scientists, managers and artists. To meet the mentioned need, the B.Sc. program in Information Technology was developed in 2003. This curriculum includes a set of core courses such as:
· Computer Architecture
· Programming Basics
· Programming in High-Level Language
· Object-Oriented Software Design and Development
· Database Management Systems
· Data Communications and Networking
· Computer Networks Security
· Project Management
· Management Information Systems
· Decision Support Systems

There are also several other courses including a practical teamwork final project and a two-month off-campus industry experience. There are also some elective courses such as:
· Artificial Intelligence
· Computer Systems and Networks
· Databases
· Internet Computing
· E-Commerce
· Information Systems
